We re-read the 5 Minute mystery#3 and solved it as a class. We then spent time discussing our end of the year work. Both first and second hour decided to read short stories/examples of various genres not yet covered.

Language Arts - 8 (5/5-5/9)

This week we are back in the classroom organizing the research we found on our famous Hispanic American. On Monday we will be working on parenthetical citations, thesis statements, and the outline. Tuesday we will look at a sample research paper and discuss formating. By the beginning of the hour Friday, everyone should be finished with their detailed outline and be ready to type their title and outline page.

Students worked on a Geography Review Crossword Puzzle.

Today we completed the video about caves. Students were assigned the task of completing a Venn Diagram which compared and contrasted a Continental Glacier with a Valley Glacier. these diagrams were collected at the end of the hour.

Health 7

Students accessed a website and answered questions to check to see if it was a reliable resource for health information for drug and alcohol prevention information.

Students will have thier unit test on Friday (A-day) and Monday (B-day).

Permission slips for Human Growth and Development should be signe by a parent and turned in no later than Monday (5/5).

I will be posting my gradebook in my classroom for students to view their current grade and if they have any missing assignments. It will be updated every Monday. Students may check it before/after class or during work time. I will no longer waste class time to alert students that they have missing assignments. It is their responsibility.

Applied Math

Extra Credit options and Test 15 Review. Extra Credit must be turned in at the end of class. Completed Test Reviews will count for +2% if attached to the test tomorrow.
Assignment: Complete Test 15 Review (if not already done) and review for tomorrow's test!

Health 8

Students reviewed and studied for their Fitness Unit test on Friday (A-day) and Monday (B-day). Extra-credit puzzles are due before their test.

My gradebook will be posted in my classroom and updated every Monday so that students may view thier current grade and if they have any missing assignments. I will no longer take class time to let students know they are missing assignments. It will be their responsibility to check before or after class or during work time.

8th Grade Family and Consumer Education

Each class is working on thier restaurant simualtion experience.
Please ask you child about the "restaurant" thier class will be running.
An invitation should be coming home for you. Any extra help in the kitchen
your child does can be used as extra credit - as long as they are apart of the

Movies finished up today. First and second hours will be switching movies for the rest of the week.

Students practiced using a map scale to determine distance and the time it would take to fly to different destinations.

Today was a Nature Area Workday!

Language Arts - 8 (4/28-5/2)

This week we are spending all of our time in the library researching. By today, you should have showed me that you were able to find three sources. The rest of the week will be dedicated to taking noted in the library and by Friday you should have five pages of written notes. Remember, you need to take all three types of notes: direct quote, paraphrase, and summary.

Algebra

Lesson 10-3, part 2. Pages 593-596. Problems 36-42, 47-50, 56-58, 65, 70,75,80, 81 and quiz 1 1-17. Quiz tomorrow.

7th Grade Math

Lesson 11-5, pages 491-492. Problems 8-21 and 23-27.

Angiosperms notes today.
Students worked on a monocot and dicot chart as well as prepared for tomorrow's flower dissection by learning the parts and function of a flower.

THE ACTUAL FETE DU TRAVAIL IS MAY 1, BUT SINCE FRENCH MEETS EVERY OTHER DAY, YOUR CHILD WILL REMEMBER A TREAT TO SHARE EITHER FOR WED. OR THURS. THE GEOGRAPHY QUIZZES WERE HANDED BACK AND DISCUSSED THIS WEEK. ACTIVITY IN PROGRESS IS WORKING ON A FRENCH FLAG COLLAGE.

Honor Roll trip today...students worked on mandatory extra credit. The vocabulary will enforce the subject matter and give each student some well needed extra credit to meet Honor roll in quarter 4.

Literature 8

Today we finished tests and started watching the movie for each book.

Applied Math

Students received a 3-page packet. 2 pages of the packet are review, 1 page is a challenge for bonus points. Packets are due at the end of the hour. Students with late/missing assignments had time to complete and turn in those assignments to help their grade.

Social Studies 8

Students viewed the biography of Henry Ford.

Chapter 4.3 Seedless Vascular Plants
We took notes/filled in our study charts. A concept map review assignment was passed out to help prepare for the quiz on Tuesday.

Literature 8

First Hour: I Am The Cheese...We finished reading a section and completed a main character comparison.
Second Hour: And Then There Were None... We read chapter 14 in class. The students were assigned a review of chapters 10-14.

Finished chapter 9 test.

Ms. Francoeur was gone for half the day at the Math 24 Meet, so students were assigned a Civil War packet (due Monday) and given the full hour to complete it.

Students learned about inhalant abuse and inhalant prevention in class today.

Health 8

Students should continue studying their muscles and bones for daily quizes.

Today in class, students participated in a aerobic workout. During the workout, students monitored their pulse. They recorded their pulse rates and have to graph them to see if they were working in their target heart rate zones. The Monitoring Target Heart Rate worksheet is due Monday 4/21.
