7th Grade Math-Mr. Smith

Lesson 3-4, pages 123-124. Problems 10-58 even and 52-69. Odds are extra credit.

Pre-Algebra

Mid-chapter practice. Page 130. Problems 1-25. Packet 3-3. Do the evens. Odds and enrichment are extra credit. Mid-chapter test, quiz, and notes tomorrow.

Algebra

Lesson 3.6 Part 1, page 169. Problems 14-42 even. Mid-chapter 3 test tomorrow.

8th gr. Spanish FLEX

We reviewed the Spanish vocabulary for the body parts (which the students have in their notes). We had a practice quiz on the body parts. Tomorrow (Friday) they will have a quiz on the body parts. The students handed in their textbooks. The remaining time in the class period was spent watching the Spanish version of Pinocchio. On Monday these students will start their 8th grade health class.

Science 8

Today was a review day for the test. The students had part of the class time to finish and turn in their lab reports. We then studied for the test by completing a concept map and practiced cell structure identification. Extra credit offered for tomorrow: define the key terms on page 38. This will also help them study!

We reviewed key terms used during our labs this week. Students will be working in small groups to complete three labs illustrating diffusion and osmosis.

We finished the movie today...spontaneous extra credit was offered: A list of ten differences between the book and movie will be given toward the test scores!

8th gr. Spanish FLEX

This week we are working on learning the Spanish vocabulary for the parts of the body: arm, leg, head, foot, back, etc.

Science 7


Today we finally were able to go outside and test our flying contraptions/apparatuses! It was interesting to see which designs were overall successful and what alterations were made on the spot to improve the gaining or sustaining of altitude :) Flying Rationales need to be turned in tomorrow!

**Remember, quarter 1 ends on FRIDAY! So, make sure to turn in missing work by Thursday 11/5/09!

7th Grade Math (Moran)

Tonight's assignment is extra practice, from the back section of the book. Students are to complete Lesson 3-1 (problems 1-22) and Lesson 3-2 (problems 1-22). The pages are 569 and 570.

Friday we used as a catch up day or an opportunity to make a wind sock. With so many kids out, it was a great chance for many to get caught up. Please keep working hard to turn in any/all missing work. You need to turn them in by 11/5 - next week Thursday!

Today was a review day in class. We have our test TOMORROW!! Make sure to study hard tonight! I will be collecting notebooks on Wednesday, so make sure all 8 entries are included.

7th Grade Math (Moran)

Due for today were the notes for Chapter 2, Lessons 6 and 7. Because many kids were out last week during our test, today, most finished up/began the test.
No homework. Remember to turn in ALL missing work (either from being absent or other reasons) by Thursday 11/5 (next week Thursday).

Catch-up day. Many students are working on completing their cell structure flashcards. There will be a cell quiz on Wednesday.

All absent students should try to use these few days off this week to get caught up...I am glad to see many have returned.

We corrected our review assignment due today. Any extra time was used to work on Flash cards. No Homework!

Literature 8


We finished reading the story today. Make sure you finish answering your study questions. To find out the why & who, we will read the prologue and Manuscript on Monday. If you want to read ahead...go ahead.

Today we discussed the composition of living things: Organic and Inorganic Compounds. The students also began a partner Cell Structure Flash Card review. Each team will produce cards to study the structures of a typical plant/animal cell.

After 10 minutes of study time, students took their quiz on the "family" vocabulary. Then we worked on page 66 in the textbook. For the next several days we will be spending class time learning how to tell time in Spanish.

Different classes are at different points, so today's activities could vary.
Students handed in Heat Transfer GRS 2.2 (some classes corrected today and made corrections other classes worked on corrections), Read and Complete Key Terms and Concepts for Chapter 2, Section 3 - Winds for Wednesday (some classes completed this, and we discussed the chapter), some classes began the Winds GRS 2.3 that will be due on Thursday.
Chapter 2 Part I Test on Tuesday 10/27/09! It will cover 2.1-2.3

7th grade math (Moran)

Assignment due tomorrow : Lesson 2-8, pg 94. Problems 7-13 and 15-24.

8th gr. Spanish FLEX

We reviewed the "family vocabulary." The quiz will be tomorrow (Wednesday). Later this week we will start learning how to tell time in Spanish.

Social Studies 8

Students got back their South America Projects and South America Map Tests today. There is a list on the board of students who will need to make up their map tests due to an absence as well as missing South America projects.
Students viewed a video that highlighted the physical goegraphy of Europe as well as famous landmarks. A study guide was completed and handed in before leaving.

Today we had a special Red Ribbon Assembly during 4th hour. So not to through off my other classes...I used today as a well needed re-grouping day. The students participated in a review activity to reinforce what we have been studying: Cell, Microscopes and the Cell Theory.

The Microscope quiz will occur on Wednesday!

We read chapter 13 today...make sure your study questions are complete and your character chart too!

Social Studies 8

Due to the large number of students out sick on Friday, today was a catch-up/make-up day. Students who were gone on Friday were able to take their map tests. All students were given time to complete the labeling of their Europe maps.

8th gr. Spanish FLEX

Family trees were collected. Students had 10 minutes to study family vocabulary. Practice quiz on family vocabulary. We read pages 62-65 in textbook. QUIZ on family vocabulary on Wednesday, October 21st.

Science 8

The prefix list "E" was due today...and they took the quiz. A new list "F & G" was passed out. All classes finished a microscope lab...a quiz on the parts and functions is scheduled for Monday...STUDY! All cell packets should be completed today as well.

Literature 8


We corrected our vocabulary assignment due today and read Chapter 12. All study questions will be corrected this weekend (this is a participation grade as we answer/discuss them as we read).
