Science 7

Key Terms and Concepts for How Soil Forms were assigned yesterday and are due tomorrow. They are found on pg. 48 in the book. We continued to discuss how our soil forms, and students had time to start on their soil formation worksheet (grs). They were handed in at the end of the hour. Students will complete them tomorrow in class.

Our Chapter 2 Weather and Soil Formation Test will be on 1/20/10!!! All missing and late work must be turned in by this date as well.

7th Grade Math (Moran)

The lesson that was collected today was Lesson 5-5, #'s 16-50.
Today, students took notes from the board for Lesson 5-6, decimals and percents. We did the guided practice questions together in class (that could be copied into his/her notebook). The assignment for tonight is on pages 220-223, #'s 12-31 and 44-55 (review questions)

Science 8

We corrected today's 4.2 assignment. Three readings were given. The class was divided into three groups and assigned one of the three topics to present to the class. The topics discussed were Gene Therapy, Genetic Alterations and DNA fingerprinting.

Literature 8

First Hour: We read pages 169-192. Fill in your study questions.

Second Hour: We listened to and discussed chapter 8 questions. Read chapter 9 for class tomorrow.

Social Studies 8

Review for TOMORROW'S Map Test.
Asia Group Presentations today.

8th gr. Spanish FLEX

The family tree assignment was collected. Students were given time to review the family vocabulary. After a few minutes, the students completed the quiz on the family vocabulary.

Tomorrow we will start learning how to tell time in Spanish.

Students took the Chapter 5 Mid-Chapter Test/Quiz today in class. The review worksheets that were given out on Thursday will be collected on Monday. Also, notebooks will be checked on Monday, so make sure all 11 words from lessons 5-1 to 5-4 are defined in your notebook!

Science 8

Blood Transfusion Simulation Lab was finished and turned in. A "Blood Type Pedigree Practice" assignment was given...due on Monday at the start of class.

Science Showcase...Monday Jan. 18

Literature 8

First Hour: We finished reading pages 152-163. Journal entries 6-12 were graded.

Second Hour: We read half of chapter 7...up to page 124. Proverb assignment was given and is due Monday.

Both classes have had extra credit available. Those are due on Monday!

Health 7

We discussed the male reproductive system in class today. Students should read pp. 220-224 and study their diagrams.
***Test on Wednesday next week. It covers the male and female reproductive diagrams; pp. 159-165; 216-224. Students are encouraged to start studying now.

Health 8

Students learned how to care for muscle, bone & joints injuries. They practiced applying a rigid splint on a partner.

First Hour...We reviewed the story and began reading up to page 115 (through Tape 11). Make sure all of your study questions are complete and your tape summaries are finished. Vocab for pages 67-86 were due today.

Second Hour...A review of the story (chapters 1-4) by listening to a "radio broadcast" storytelling. Pictures of Goblins were due today as well. Make sure all study questions are completed.

Social Studies 8

Review for East/Southeast Asia Map Test - scheduled for January 13.
Introduced East/Southeast Asia Project:
Students will be making INDIVIDUAL powerpoints on one of the four assigned regions - China, Korean Peninsula, Japan, Southeast Asia. They will vote on the other powerpoints in their groups to decide the best one which they will present to the class TOGETHER. Every student will be required to submit a powerpoint for a grade.
Today's class was given for students to take notes from their assigned chapters.

Applied Math 7

Lesson 48: Decimals to Fractions and Fractions to Decimals
Worked through the lesson together as a class, students submitted at the end of the hour.

Applied Math 8

Review of adding and subtracting integers as well as solving equations.

Science 7

We worked on turning our pictures into pixels. Some students even got to the point of using the binary code system. Due tomorrow is your picture in pixels - we'll talk more about binary code tomorrow in class. For those that did not bring a logo/symbol/image, make sure to have your alternative assignment completed for tomorrow.
I will send the Mapping Earth's Surface test home tomorrow, so make sure to watch for it! Part of the homework over holiday break will be to bring that back to school signed.

7th Grade Math (Moran)

Pg. 574 Lessons 5-1 and 5-2, all problems. Majority of students finished in class. Don't forget to bring back your test/quiz signed! Many are still missing...

Winter FIeldtrip


Hello All! Make sure you are prepared for our field trip on Wednesday. We will be leaving after attendance and arriving back to school about 2:40.
Things to bring: A bag lunch with beverage, warm coat, gloves and hat for skating. Money for concessions at the movie is optional.

Punnett square assignment was corrected and allowed to be used as notes on today's punnett square/vocabulary quiz.

Study for the chapter two test on Tuesday. Make a bingo card using the key terms from page 104 and these four: Mendel, Gametes, Chromosomes and Mutation (*Don't forget a Free Space). Define these 24 words for extra credit...due at the start of class on Monday!!

Literature 8

First hour: Vocabulary sheet was due today by the end of the hour; We also discussed pages 44-66 summary questions. "Tape" summaries were graded for a participation grade as well.

Second hour: Questions from Chapter Two were discussed. We read a short explanation of our characters and races found in the story. Assignment was to draw and color a Troll.

Students took chapter 4 quiz. Homework is practice test, page 267. Problems 2-34 even. Chapter 4 test and notes tomorrow.

Health 8

Students practiced how to check an unconscious vicitm.
Use red insert on page 20 to identify in each of the 21 cases whether or not to call 9-1-1. You should have a yes or no answer written for each of the 21 examples to turn in tomorrow.

Health 7

Student learned about the stages of addiction, tolerance and withdrawal. Complete word search for clues to helping someone trying to quit smoking.

8th gr. Spanish FLEX

Today we reviewed the forms of "ser" (to be). We discussed the fact that the majority of the adjectives in Spanish can be written in four ways. The adjectives must be written so they agree in gender and number with the noun they are describing. A lesser number of adjectives have two different spellings. Assignment: Write 12 sentences describing your friends. Use two adjectives in each sentence. (many adjectives were written on the board for students to write down in their Spanish notebooks)

Science 7

Students took their test on Chapter 1, Mapping Earths Surface.
Remember to bring in a simple image, design, symbol for us to use when working with pixels.

7th grade math (Moran)
