Social Studies 8
Students viewed the video "The Great War" and completed a study guide. This video gives an overview of World War I including secret alliances prior to the war, new technology that made WWI more deadly than any other war up until this time, and U.S. involvement. The purpose for viewing this video is to give students basic background knowledge of WWI. We will study the war in depth when we return from Spring Break.

Health 7
Students learned the importance of and practiced reading labels for over-the-counter medications.
Health 8
Students used www.mypyramid.gov as a tool to learn more about personal nutrition guidelines and how they are eating.
Science 7
We started our chapter presentations today - Yippee!!! Over the past 2 1/2 weeks the students have been working in groups to present and teach a topic (earthquakes, volcanoes, minerals, or rocks). They have been working very hard, and using the calendar schedule that I gave them, a majority of them have turned in all of the required parts. Now, they just have to present:)
Today, the Earthquake groups began and they will take the remainder of the week. Those groups will give a short "quiz" on Thursday.
When we come back from spring break, Plate Tectonics and Volcanoes will present the first week back, followed by Minerals and Rocks.

We have continued this week to work on our Geography unit. Today the students took their quiz, in which they were able to use their review worksheets for assistance.

Social Studies 8
Students finished presentations today, then viewed a biography of Susan B. Anthony. Although women did not receive the right to vote until AFTER WWI, which we haven't studies yet, most of Anthony's work occurred prior to WWI. Students needed to write and submit 5 facts about Susan B. Anthony from the video for participation points today.
