Science 8: Stachowski

Mitosis notes and review finished up yesterday. Today we watched/took a video quiz on mitosis...points can be used as extra credit.

Science 7

We took notes today and watched part of a video on the birth of stars.

Vocabulary test 4.3 is tomorrow.

Applied Math 8

Corrected Lesson 4-2.
HW: p. 572 (Additional Practice for 4-2) #1-30 due tomorrow.

Applied Math 7

We finished correcting Lesson 41 from yesterday and began Lesson 42: Perimeter, Part 2.
HW: Complete Lesson 42. We will check, correct, and check corrections tomorrow.

Social Studies 8

Map Review.
Middle School computer lab for research on South/Southwest Asia documentary projects.
Students with missing work are not allowed to work on the documentary project until their missing work is completed and submitted.
Since progress report grades are being submitted tomorrow, students with missing work were asked to stay after school to complete and submit their work.

Science 8 - Francoeur

Completed our DNA structure and replication lab today.
HW: Read Chapter 2, Section 4 (p.64): Cancer and complete the study guide.

Health 8

Lesson 4-2: Solving Addition and Subtraction Equations
HW: p. 159 #11-36

Progress report grades will be submitted on Friday, so all absent/missing work must be turned in by then or it will be reflected as zeros on the progress report.

Applied Math 7

Lesson 41 - Ratio.
New Problems and Word Problems were worked through as a class. Computation problems (including fractions and decimals) were assigned to be worked on independently in class, checked, corrected, and corrections checked before submitting.
You might have homework today if you didn't get all the way through the lesson before the end of the hour.

Social Studies 8

Map Review.
Mr. Whitmore offerred an extra credit opportunity for students: Students may go to the IMC to look at an article in the newest National Geographic (not yet available for checkout) and summarize the article about the treatment of women in Afghanistan as well as what the women there are doing to fight for their rights.
Extra Credit must be turned in by Friday if it is to be reflected on progress report grades, but will be accepted after Friday as well.
Our newest project was introduced today. Students will be making short (5 minute max.) documentaries about a topic in South or Southwest Asia. Today we chose groups and topics and got notes out our textbooks. Starting tomorrow we will be going to the computer lab.
Students who did not turn in the written response that was due today will not be allowed to work on this project until their response is turned in.
Remember, progress report grades will be submitted on Friday, so make sure all your work is turned in.

Science 8 - Francoeur

Continued construcion of our DNA models. Make sure to bring them to class tomorrow since we will be using them for the replication portion of our lab.

Social Studies 8

As a class, we read and discussed 4 possible foreign policy options for U.S. involvement in Afghanistan. Students took notes on each option.
HW: A 1 page, handwritten response to the question, "What should the U.S. and NATO policy be towards Afghanistan and Pakistan?" Students should support their opinons with facts from the reading and their notes. Due tomorrow.

Both 1st and 8th Hours worked on constructing DNA strands as part of our DNA lab today.

Science 8: Stachowski

All work from last week was passed back. We reviewed Photosynthesis with a few notes and learned about Respiration and Fermentation. **Notes are valuable for reviewing and are allowed on quizzes...I wish all of the students would take them.

A respiration & fermentation assignment was given and is due tomorrow.

Science 7

Today we finished our notes on 4.2 and discussed our lab activity from Friday. We also took the spelling test abandoned on Friday due to an assembly.
Hints were given toward this chapter's extra credit.
No homework tonight!

7th Grade Math

Lesson 4-3, pages 162-163. Problems 14-39. Mid-chapter test and quiz on Friday.

Pre-Algebra

Lesson 4-1, pages 158-159. Problems 10-33 and 36-37.
