English/Literature 7

English--
We finished making our "comma rules" posters in all hours except 6th. We are working on figuring out how to appropriately use commas, and we are finding there are an overwhelming amount of rules! The students will be teaching each other these rules starting next week.
Friday, Feb. 1st - elements of figurative language quiz

Literature--
We finished our first short story, "School Spirit," by Jerry Spinelli.
We practiced relating to the experiences of our main character, Arnold. We put ourselves in his shoes and discussed what we would do/feel is a similar circumstance. We will begin to break the short story down into the different elements of plot before beginning our next short story: "A Brief Moment in the Life of Angus Bethune."
