Because we are skipping from the Revolutionary War to the Civil War, we miss hundreds of years of American history. Today and Friday we are watching 2 videos in a series that will give students a brief overview of how the United States grew and developed in those years.
Today there was a study guide for students to complete while watching the video. Students who submit the study guide at the end of the hour will gain participation points.

Also today students were introduced to the project we will be working on throughout Chapter 15. Students will select a character from this time period (pre-Civil War) and they will write an autobiography as that character (slave, plantation owner, northern abolitionist, etc.) that will show how the events we learn about in chapter 15 would have affected their character. Students will be responsible for applying what they know about each topic we cover to their character. Computer lab time will be given next week for writing and publishing stories. These projects will be due April 14 (Monday) and will take the place of a chapter test.
