Literature - 7
Today we completed our "Dear Abby" assignment. The students received letters from an anonymous member of the class and had to respond to them using characterization and the careful consideration of perspective.
Many students did an excellent job and finished in a timely matter. For students who did not finish due to an absence, I will allow students extra time to ask questions and complete the necessary work. For students who did not finish because they were not using their computer lab time wisely, they will now have these assignments as homework.

This week we are continuing to read Black Star, Bright Dawn which will allow us to understand what the Iditarod is all about and the challenges that the mushers will face when the race starts in March. The tentative reading schedule for this week goes as follows:
Chapters 3-4 -Monday (with a drawing of the village)
Chapters 5-7 - Tuesday
Chapters 8-10- Wednesday
If a student is absent one of these days, they may check out a book to take home. There is no vocabulary due to the short week, but we will be doing our daily editting practice.
