Science 7

Today students were to have their materials here at school so that they could work on the Flying Apparatus that each group is creating. Most groups did bring in materials, but there were a few that will need to work hard on Monday in order to complete their design. I do have some materials here, but I cannot supply all materials for all groups. Remember, this is from the "junk drawer" nothing needs to be speciality bought in order to complete this project. I am hoping that by Tuesday or Wednesday we can test the flights outside!

The only homework in science is to bring in needed material (if needed) and do complete the GRS 2.2 if it was not completely done for today.

Have a great weekend! Make good choices!

Applied Math 7

Basic Facts in Addition and Subtraction.

Corrected yesterday's assignment.

Today we played "Place Value Line-Up" - teams of 2 or 3 had to organize the pieces of a place value chart as quickly as possible!

Literature 8

We continued to watch the movie "Charly"

Applied Math 8

Practice in Basic Facts for multiplication and division.

Corrections to yesterday's assignment.

Today's assignment: Using the Yoruba numeric system to add, subtract, and multiply and to form new numbers. The Yoruba are a tribe in Africa and students thought their names for numbers were fabulous.

Science 8

Today we had time to finish the lab from page 76.
The students were assigned a review assignment on page 84 (16-26) Due Monday.
The students were also given words to place on their Bingo Review card. **If they define these vocabulary words they will not only earn extra credit they will also be reviewing key concepts from the chapter. The extra credit is due Monday as well. ***Any absent students can still make the bingo card if they have their textbook...the words are the key terms listed on page 82.
Test Chapter 2 on Wednesday 10/8.

Social Studies 8

Chapter 4 is only 2 sections long so we are already half way through! Today we began reviewing Section 1 for the test. Students were again reminded that all late work needs to be turned in today due to Progress Reports - if it is not turned in it will become a 0 (zero). Students were also reminded that beginning in Chapter 5, notes (reading study guides and overhead worksheets) will be graded for completion - pass/fail, no inbetween. Monday we will have a practice check of the Chapter 4 materials so students will know what to improve before chapter 5 begins.

Assignment: Read Chapter 4, Section 2 (How Does Culture Change?) p. 97-100 and complete the study guide
