Literature 8

We discussed our Sci-Fi short story, "Contagion". No homework

Science 8

We had a food lab today. "The Taste of Color" Each small group made predictions on the flavors of Jello, based on the color...then we tasted it and made a final prediction. Our group work continues on the digestive system.

Algebra

Went over exponential growth. Homework: Lesson 8.5, pages 480-482. Problems 6-16, 18-23, 29,30,35,40,44,45.

7th grade math

Students took chapter test today. No homework.

Pre-Algebra

Page 641, lesson 10-5 problems 1-18 and the worksheet.

Health 7

In class today we disussed attitudes toward alcohol and the effects alcohol can have on the user. Alcoholism and its effects on family and socitey were introduced.
Assignment: Read over notes.

Health 8

Students learned how to care for a victim suffereing from heat or cold related emergencies.
Assignment: First Aid test next week on Tuesday (b-day) or Wednesday (a-day). Students received an extra-credit puzzle to work on to be turned in before their test.

7th and 8th Grade Art

7th Grade Art: Portrait paintings were due today! Students participated in a classroom discussion about each others' projects. Next week students will begin an extended paper mache project.

8th Grade Art: Students began an architechture unit yesterday with a discussion about the Canadian/American architect, Frank Gehry. Three sketches are due on Monday for their "deconstructed" buildings.

Applied Math

Practice with basic facts in multiplication and division.
Computer Lab time to work on math stories with partners.
Students were encouraged to print 2 copies of whatever work they had completed in case of an absence by a partner in the following days.

Social Studies 8

Day 3 of computer lab work time - students were encouraged to use their time today organizing the information they have been finding and transferring it to note cards. Monday's class time will be used to finalize visual aids.
