Science 7

The tests that were taken on Thursday, 12/18/08, were handed back to the students. They looked over the tests and we talked about any questions/concerns in regards to the test. There are some students who have not taken the test, so I collected them at the end of the hour.

Hours 1, 2, and 4 were assigned the Chapter One Review and Assessment. They had time to work on it this afternoon and it is due when they return to school on Monday, 1/5/09.

Have a great winter break and enjoy your time off from school! Hopefully no more Christmas trees fall over inside the house :)

Social Studies 7

Most classes completed the Anthropology readings and correlating worksheets. There is no new assignment for over the break.

Applied Math 7

Corrected Lesson 40 together. Test 8 review in class. No homework, but remember to bring your reviews to use on the test. The test will be the first day we are back from break, due to last Friday's snow day.

Applied Math 8

Reviewed and corrected Lesson 3-7: Dividing Integers
Assignment: Complete the 3-7 Worksheet - more practice dividing integers. This can be turned in today, or kept until we are back from break.

Science 8

We had a pop quiz today on chapter three. With the number of snow days...we have gotten behind a bit. Students were allowed to use all notes/worksheets as notes on this quiz.

All extra credit is due today as well.

Chapter 3.4 review is due today (this was assigned last Thursday)

Students were also given time to complete the "meiosis/baby" activity we started last week Tuesday.

No regular science class on Tuesday due to our field trip! Have a great winter break!

Literature 8

Today was an organization day.

1. Chapter 7-12 review was due today. Any student who did not have it finished had time to complete it.

2. All missing/late work was announced today. It needs to be in by tomorrow A.M. at the latest.

Note:Although this is not the best time to "pause" our reading of "The Red Badge..." we have no choice. When we come back from winter break I will review where we are/what has happened and we will continue the story!

No Literature classes on Tuesday due to our field trip.

Social Studies 8

All present 8th grade students participated in the Search Survey during the first part of Social Studies class. This is a voluntary, confidential survey that asks students about some of their experiences. The surveys are scored by the Search Institute in Minneapolis, and results are then reported to the school as a whole.

If there was time after the survey, we reviewed the first two sections of Chapter 11 (Europe) and went over locations for the Chapter 11 Map Quiz which will focus on bodies of water and capital cities.

Updated grade sheets were posted this morning.
