Have a safe & relaxing Labor Day weekend!

Science 8

10 observations were turned in today...each student was asked to share one of each observation (qualitative & quantitative).
Notes on the Scientific Method/Inquiry Chapter 1.2

*NEW: Science Prefix Friday...each Friday I will assign a list of up to 20 prefixes. I provide a meaning for each but ask the students to find and define three words (science terms please) that utilize that prefix. They have a quiz on the prefix meanings the following Friday. This week starts with the A's...
This should emphasize and improve recognition and understanding of science terms.

Literature 8

Genre crossword and vocabulary terms due on Tuesday. The students were able to define 18 genres using a crossword puzzle. The additional 8-10 words needing to be defined were listed on the board. Most students finished in class.

Science 7

It has been such a great week! This week, we have gone over policies for my classroom, and have taken some time to explore what to expect this year in science. The students have already completed a bio glyph and are working on a packet due Friday, September 11. This packet (Making Connections) is worth the same amount of points that a test is, so it is important that they follow directions, take their time and put thought into their answers. We have been working on it in class both yesterday and today. There may be a short amount of time next week to work on it as we finish up for the period, but some will have to be completed at home. It is a longer term assignment, so they will need to budget their time. I am reminding them everyday :) Also, by Tuesday, their books need to be covered. I have been offering paper covers - they seem to do the best job - but a stretchy cover is fine as long as it is XL or JUMBO size. Have a great weekend...Make Good Choices!

Social Studies 8

We reviewed for the U.S. Map Test - physical features and states and capitals (through Maryland). Make sure you are studying!
We spent the rest of class time in the middle school computer lab where students had time and access to the internet to do research for their group poster project.
ASSIGNMENT: Knowthe capitals through New Jersey!

Applied Math 7

Students were introduced to Basic Facts. This is a packet that students will recieve about every five lessons in 7th grade which will give them the opportunity to practice basic skills in addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division. There are a LOT of problems, but they are relatively easy. Students were given the entire hour to complete their packets and turned them in before leaving for the weekend.
