7th Grade Math - Moran

Corrected Lesson 2-4 (Mean, Median, Mode).
Mid-Chapter Test on pg. 74 due tomorrow.

Today we corrected and talked about Chapter 2, Section 1 - Energy in Earth's Atmosphere. We went over again the main points, such as wavelength, infrared light, UV light, electromagnetic radiation, etc. The students had the opportunity to make corrections to the GRS, if they chose, during class today.

Students also met in their groups to discuss their flying contraption(s). The students have been talking about this project, and have assigned items that are being brought in. We will start this tomorrow. I do have some cardboard, plastic bags, paper, wire hangers, and Styrofoam.

Health 8

Social Studies 8

Review of South America's physical features, countries, and capitals
Computer lab for project work: ALL students were to type and print their government summaries. Keep these safe and don't lose them! After that, students who still needed to work on their culture paragraphs were given time to do so, while students who had all their rough drafts done were allowed to begin typing them.
*Projects may be turned in early, but they must be COMPLETE (see "organization" section in the project packet)
*All portions of the project must be turned in at one time - random pieces of the assignment will not be accepted.

We analyzed our population density and economic make-up data from Tech Ed and wrote the rough drafts of our analyzation paragraphs as a class. Extra class time (if applicable) should have been used to continue working on perfect paragraphs about each country's culture.
Assignment: Have your government notes ready to type tomorrow. Continue working on HANDWRITTEN rough drafts of perfect paragraphs on the cultures.

Students learned how to care for a conscious choking victim, as well as the signs of a heart attack. Students will practice CPR tomorrow.

Students practiced ways to say "No" to tobacco use in class today.

Science 8

Study, study, study. The students have their first test on Wednesday. An outline of what to expect was put on the board...again. We played a Bingo Review game also to practice vocabulary found on the test. Brown extra credit sheets are due Wednesday.
This week students were not given a new list of prefixes...they should study a-d for the review quiz Friday.

Literature 8


We turned in our vocabulary assignment today and read chapter 6. Study questions are due on Wednesday.


We have a Career Day field trip tomorrow. Students will miss 1-6th hours. Don't forget a bag lunch or money for fast food.

Today students worked on gathering information from the textbook on the governments of the different South American countries. Government notes needed to be completed before exiting the room - Ms. Francoeur nags because she cares that your projects are done on time.

Review of South America physical features, countries, and capitals. Map Test on South America is scheduled for October 16.
Check of South America maps for points.
Introduced the South America project - students will be completing part of the project in Social Studies, and part in Tech Ed. This is a long(ish) term project (due date is October 14). Students were given a detailed schedule (what we do each day, due dates for portions of the project, etc) as well as helpful templates for sections of the project. Ask your student to share their packet with you. This project should not require much time outside of class as long as students use the time they are given during social studies class to work on the project.

Metric Mania worksheet is due today. All students were given a graphing assignment using m-n-m's for a quantitative sampling. Work time will be provided during class to complete all 3 graphs(bar, line, pie) and one data chart. All work will be done the "old fashion" way(by hand) as a learning process. This assignment is due Friday. Mr. Rehm will be 'teaming' with me by showing students how to use excel.

We reviewed chapter 3 today...corrected study questions and added to our character chart. A vocabulary assignment was given. For extra credit the students could define all of the words on the vocabulary sheet.

Chapter 2 Test
More time was given again today for students to complete and submit missing assignments. There will be work time provided for this same reason for the remainder of the week. Progress Report grades will be submitted this Friday. No missing assignments will be accepted after this time - ample class time will have been provided prior to Friday, not to mention time students have to work in study hall and before or after school.

Test on Latin America today. Students who brought their notes to class were allowed to use them. Students had whatever portion of the hour that was left after they finished their test to study for the Latin America map test which is tomorrow.
Assignment: Study locations of countries, physical features, and the spelling of capitals for tomorrow's map test on Latin America.

  • Write down 8 new or interesting things you have learned about Edgar Allan Poe
  • Based on what you now know about his life, explain why Poe may have chosen to write in his particular style and why he focused on the genre of mystery/suspense stories
  • Explain a piece of writing that you have done in the past that was based on personal experiences. What was this writing about? Why did you choose to write about these particular experiences?

Passed back graded Canada packets, Canada Quizzes, and Canada Map Tests.
Labeled physical features on the map of Latin America
Students labeled Latin American countries and completed the list of countries and capitals in the region.
The Latin America Map Test will be next Tuesday (9/29). Students will need to be able to correctly spell the capital cities.
