Discussed the relationship between emotions, body language, verbal cues and tone of voice.
No assignment.

Health 8

Read pp. 24-28 in the text. Study the muscles and bones.
Start tracking goal progress in notebook.

Science 8

Today we corrected and discussed our Scientific Method assignment. A series of eight similar practice problems were solve today in class as small groups. We will share our finding tomorrow. We will have our first quiz on Friday...The Scientific Method.
Remember:
Science Prefix assignment is due on Friday...a quiz on the meaning of the prefix will be given.

Literature 8

Today we presented our Genre excerpts. What a creative group!
We began reading Scope Magazine...Romeo & Juliet (simplified version) play was read as a class.
No homework tonight...but quiz on Genres is on Friday.

Lesson 1-4, pages 26-27. Problems 11-44, extra-credit 46-54. Mid-chapter 1 test and quiz next Tuesday, 9/15.

7th Grade Math-Mr. Smith

Lesson 1-4, pages 20-21. Problems 14-45. Extra-credit, 48-54. Mid-chapter 1 test and quiz next Tuesday, 9/15.

7th grade math - Mrs. Moran

Lesson 1-4, pgs. 20-21. Problem #'s 14-35 and 41-45.

Algebra

Lesson 1.3, part 2. Pages 20-22. Problems 47-49, 55, (58-72 even) and quiz 1 (1-26). Mid-chapter test and quiz on Friday.

Science 7

We reviewed and talked about Chapter 1, Section 1 today. We had a "quiz off" today in class about the reading from yesterday. Due for tomorrow is the GRS (guided reading and study) for 1.1. The students had 15 - 20 minutes to work on this in class, and we answered some questions together. Most students finished in the class period. Reminder....Making Connections is due on FRIDAY!!

We reviewed our notes from last week. (Chapter 1.1 and 1.2)
A Scientific Method review assignment was given with class time provided as a work period.

Lesson 1-3, pages 16-17. Problems 16-64 even.

Algebra

Lesson 1.3, part 1. Pages 19-20. Problems 13-40. Quiz and mid-chapter test on Friday.

Literature 8

We corrected our Genre Crossword and definitions assignment. Each Genre was categorized into either Fiction or Nonfiction as a review. Each student was assigned a genre to write a 2-5 sentence simple passage that would give away the genre without using the definition.

For example: This would represent Romance...
Timmy stared at me with his big brown eyes. I knew that instant that we were meant to be together. How can I tell him how I feel? Would he feel the same about me?

Quiz on Genres is scheduled for Friday!

Science 7

Today the students were shown how their notebook needs to be set up for assignments. We started a KWL for the first chapter all about the atmosphere. Each class has had great thoughts! We will complete the last portion in the notebook once we have finished chapter 1. The assignment for today was to read Chapter 1, Section 1 (1.1) - which we did together as a class. For tomorrow the students have to complete the Key Terms and Key Concepts on page 6 in their notebook ( many finished in class). Also a reminder....Making Connections is DUE on FRIDAY!!!

Have a safe & relaxing Labor Day weekend!


Science 8

10 observations were turned in today...each student was asked to share one of each observation (qualitative & quantitative).
Notes on the Scientific Method/Inquiry Chapter 1.2

*NEW: Science Prefix Friday...each Friday I will assign a list of up to 20 prefixes. I provide a meaning for each but ask the students to find and define three words (science terms please) that utilize that prefix. They have a quiz on the prefix meanings the following Friday. This week starts with the A's...
This should emphasize and improve recognition and understanding of science terms.

Literature 8

Genre crossword and vocabulary terms due on Tuesday. The students were able to define 18 genres using a crossword puzzle. The additional 8-10 words needing to be defined were listed on the board. Most students finished in class.
