Course Content
1st Semester – World Geography – an overview of the continents, their geographic landforms, and people. Students will also learn the locations of countries and major cities as each world region is studied.
2nd Semester – U.S. History – a study of the events leading up to and following the American Revolution, the Civil War, World War I, and World War II.

Grading
Student grades will consist of tests, quizzes, projects, and homework assignments. Grades will be updated and posted throughout the semester so students can track their progress.

Homework Blog
Class activities and assignments will be posted daily on the school’s blog, http://pemshomework.blogspot.com/. This is especially beneficial for students who have been absent.

Student Expectations
*Be in your seat and ready to begin class with all necessary materials and assignments by the bell. Every three tardies will result in an after school detention.
* Be respectful to all in the classroom.
*Show respect for classroom materials and textbooks.
*Participate in classroom activities and assignments.
*Students who are disrespectful, disrupt the class, or engage in inappropriate behaviors will need to serve detention, either during lunch or after school.

Late Work
Late assignments will result in a 10% deduction of the total score. An extra 10% will be deducted for every additional day until the assignment is handed in.

Extra Credit
Extra credit will always be available. Students can earn extra credit by completing a current event project. Forms for these projects will always be available in the “extras” file and will require a parent signature.

Special Note
For first semester (World Geography) there are only 30 textbooks. This means that students will need to complete assignments during the class time provided since the books need to stay in the classroom. Students who need to make up assignments will need to work in the classroom either before or after school. Two textbooks will be available for check-out for students with an absence note.
